[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Stila is a brand that I haven’t kept up with over recent years but oh, I used to love the Stila twist up lip glazes. The gorgeous, milky shades that made lips look so juicy and smooth – there was a famous shade, Kitten, that everyone adored and that still exists now (I have it to show you below) but in a plumping formula. I’m feeling nostalgic for the Jeanine Lobell years (the make up artist founder) when everything was so much simpler. That said, there are some summer ready products that deserve our attention.
The double ended Blush & Bronze Hydro-Blur Cheek Duo above is ideal for bronzing or blushing and glides seamlessly on the skin. I was really happy with the result from this – I did a slight contour to make my cheeks look a bit sharper with just a tiny amount of the blush and they’re so nicely blendable that I could smooth them over with my fingers. This combo is called Apricot/Golden.
It looks like all the Lip Glazes are now plumping and what that seems to mean is an aggressive dose of peppermint – wow, it’s punchy! This is Kitten but I don’t think it’s the original Kitten shade – and I have searched and searched for original swatches (none on my own site!). There have been many changes since the brand was founded in 1994 – the brand was sold to Lauder who messed it up, it disappeared from our shores for a while and came back again under new ownership a different Stila.
I did manage to find this from my site from 2011 – a Festival set of mini glazes – and they give you an idea of the ‘milky’ aspect that no brand has ever bettered. The newer Kitten is delicious – so full of shine and glimmer but now also so full of peppermint! It’s light catchy, flattering and everything summer. You can find it HERE (£20).
In the swatch above from bottom to top: Heaven’s Hue Hydro-Luminator in Star Gazer which has a blue-ish element, Apricot and Golden Blush & Bronze Stick and Kitten Plumping Lip Glaze.
I’ve added a little bit of the Hydro-Luminator to my lids as well but I think this combination makes an easy and wearable summer look. And it couldn’t be simpler to do – you could apply it all with finger tips although to burnish up the highlighter as I have would need a brush, but any face brush would do. There’s only so much highlight and glow you want on your face at any one time so I appreciate the fact that the blush/bronzer has no shimmer. You can find all these products HERE.
