Gorgeous make up brand Stila, created by Jeannine Lobel, thrived when it was bought by the Estee Lauder stable in 1999 – it was sold in 2006 and consequently become harder and harder to find. Now, Stila has now pulled out of the UK market altogether – the official line is that they are ‘taking a season off’, but who knows if we’ll see it again. From general dealings with the PR and distributor, who also handle DuWop (also pulled), there have been obvious problems right from the start of Stila’s push to re-position in the UK. All beauty companies know the UK market is a really tough nut to crack and the credit crunch biting so hard makes the struggle even more difficult. Let’s hope Stila doesn’t disappear altogether. Apparantly, it is still available at web outlets but whether they are selling off old season’s stock or managing to get new supplies, I don’t yet know.

Thats so sad 🙁
I loooove their cinammon lip glaze!
I did notice their presence was very deminished in HoF, Space NK always had a better selection and even then… wonder who’s next?! x -
Nooooooo!!! I only JUST discovered Kajal liners. Are they still in stores if I go tomorrow? This is awful news, are they in Selfridges? Oh NO!!!

I hope you don’t lose Stila – the brand’s been quiet here too and I’m wondering why. I just came by your blog today and I love the little insider scoops you have 🙂 I’ll continue reading you in my reader.

I don’t think we’ll know the proper story for a while but it may stay around in shops…I was told they’re ‘taking a season off’, which could mean any number of things..it could mean they are just having a break from PR and adverstising, but it’s my impression that they’ve been very quiet over the last few months anyway….it will still be in Selfridges or where ever there is a counter until stock runs out I assume. It’s very difficult to get an accurate version of what is going on. BBBX

Such a shame – love their products – but getting hold of anyone in the press office over the last few months has been impossible. Literally!

second and third the press office problems. It seemed to have been handled pretty badly.
