Steamcream Design A Tin Competition

I know perfectly well that there are loads of talented BBB readers who are more than up to the job of entering this competition. The winning design goes on a tin and into major retailers so if you’re a budding artist, photographer or designer, it’s well worth the exposure. Even if you aren’t, Steamcream is one of those products that’s for everyone, regardless, so it stands that the competition is, too.

Amongst the judges is Wendy Dagworthy, Head of Fashion at The Royal College of Art, so maybe that’s a clue that they’re looking for a fashion edge? I hasten to add, nobody has told me this is the case! In the past, Steamcream tins have been designed by PPQ, Swarovski and Disney – time your name was there, too! You can submit your entry HERE.

I’ll tell you something lovely about the ladies who run Steamcream here in the UK. When I first discovered them, they were a tiny little brand – in fact, I’d had my eye on the UK website for activity for quite a while before there was any, so I didn’t know who it belonged to or even if Steamcream was ever going to launch in the UK. However, it did and I was a fan from the beginning because it’s a light and whippy cream that you can pretty much use for anything and they don’t make crazy claims! Sometimes you need moisture on your skin and that’s it – you might as well have it practically weightless, long lasting, kind to skin and in a gorgeous tin. So, eventually I tracked them down, featured the products and they promised to buy me lunch when they felt their brand had reached *that* point.

Three.. it might even have been four.. years later, they did just that and we had a lovely lunch together (they introduced me to NOPI which is now a firm favourite) and I’ve never forgotten it. When you have such a lovely experience with a brand it sticks with you, so I am still following their journey and love it when there is a new selection of tins. I guess if I was going to design a tin, it might have to have a food theme!

So go for it – make your mark on a Steamcream tin. They’re on Twitter, too, so you can follow and enter @steamcream and on Instagram @steamcreamskincare #SCTinArt.
