BB Cream for Black Skin Sleek MakeUP Be Beautiful Blemish Balm Cream For Black Ski

Well good old Sleek have really pulled it out of the bag with the first BB that I can find specifically for black or darker skin tones. Sleek Be Beautiful Blemish Balm Cream contains red algae extract for anti-ageing, Vitamin C for brightening, Jojoba oil to moisturise and Vitamin E to protect from free radicals so it is certainly fulfilling the skin care credentials. It’s also SPF15 so that is another BB box ticked and the dark shade isn’t a token ‘slightly darker’, it’s a rich brown that can be blended down to suit many tones. They’ve basically catered for the very pale and darker tones that struggle to get BBs that are right for their skin… a very neat move to listen to what people who can’t find the right BBs are saying and actually act on it. I’m so impressed I barely have the words!

Sleek MakeUP suggest you can also use the BB as a primer, concealer (spot cover areas that need more concealing such as pimples or acne marks) and to get a higher coverage, apply the BB in one layer, wait to dry and get a more foundation like finish with a second cover.

Bearing in mind I don’t have black skin, I am not ever going to be the best judge of this product (and I hope when it goes on sale you will feed back to me), but to me it is a very, very good start in recognising that women of colour would very much like BB creams suited specifically to their tone. I should also add there are four shades; Fair, Light, Medium and Dark (I know.. I completely forgot to add Medium in the first picture). Medium is also pretty dark – too dark for my Mediterranean complexion (I would be Fair in this range) but I don’t want to second guess a specific skin shade or ethnicity it is suited to.. I’m not knowledgeable enough to know exactly.

Also in Light and Fair (the very palest one)

It launches on 29th August into Superdrug stores and on the Sleek MakeUp site for £8.99. I’m excited about this!

  1. These sound fab! Haven’t had the chance to try Sleek Make Up yet, and I like their ethos! Rachel from http://www.whatabeauty.co.uk x

  2. Not Just On The Inside

For pale skin too? Boy I wish sleek was sold in Ireland 🙁

These look fab! I love the idea of BB creams but haven’t been able to find one that suits me. I love Sleek and am really looking forward to these coming out x

  4. That’s impressive. I already use the palest shade of Sleek’s oil free compact foundation (I’m NC15) on days I need to avoid touch ups and while it’s isn’t the world’s finest texture it’s considerably better than similar products from Mac and Illamasqua

  5. Despite there only really being one shade for darker tones, it’s still a huge step and I applaud Sleek MakeUp. Cannot wait for this to launch!

  6. I appreciate the value of this bb cream. Still more often than not the extremes of the skin color spectrum are neglected.

I can imagine it’s hard trying to find foundation or concealer in the right shade if you’re a creamy princess or an ebony goddess. Blemish balms are a new category that will be neglected by companies for years to come, as they cannot even provide decent color options in ‘frequently used makeup items’.

Nice to see Sleek take the forefront and release these darker shades without hesitation. It remains to be seen if the product is any good and if customers will buy it. Still it’s nice to know that they’re not forgotten.

I’m excited, hoping this is going to be the perfect bb cream I’ve been looking for! Need one that’s long lasting on my oily skin aswell as the right shade 🙂 x

  8. Georgia

i LOVE the look of these, it’s so good to see a company catering for dark skintones! about time anyway!

  9. I’m delighted to see that Sleek have stepped up and resolved the BB problem for women of colour!

Having tried Maybelline, Garnier and Superdrug’s BB creams and been disappointed with their performance and colour ranges; I can’t wait to to get my hands on a BB cream that not only works, but enhances and matches my skintone.

    Super excited !! -x-

  10. AfricanOrchid

Thanks for those swatches. They were very helpful to see the true color. I will definately be checking them out. 🙂

  11. Yes!!!!!

Finally!!!!! You can’t understand how happy I am to see this. It feels like I’ve been waiting forever and a day for a company to bring out a bb cream for darker skins.

  12. Oh I am so,so, very excited about this. I have been on the hunt for BB cream for dark skin for ages. Cannot wait to give it a try!

  13. Mimi Koukash

Look fabulous! I’m olive toned but I find some bb creams look too chalky! Can’t wait to try these!

  14. How nice of Sleek to come out with shades that the others haven’t.

Even though Maybelline’s light BB is a perfect match for my skin, I still want to see how Sleek’s light and fair shades compare.
