This little soap tin is probably the lowest value product I’ve reviewed all week at £4.95, but it’s so lovely that it’s really my favourite thing that’s arrived. Scottish Fine Soaps Au Lait is a beautifully milky scented soap – a tiny bit sweet and very, very clean smelling.

Cleanly scented soaps are a bit of an obsession – I love a traditional soap. I’ve got the best handwash by my sink (which annoyingly is still embargoed) but I’m not much of a shower gel fan, especially in winter, so I’m always on the hunt for the nicest soaps for quick showers or long soaks in the bath.
Milk is full of natural enzymes so this is extra skin softening – there’s a whole range too, from body milk to a bath powder (in a silver milk churn). The thing about Au Lait is that while it’s got a scent, it doesn’t tax the senses – sometimes you get a mighty blast of power-perfume that makes relaxing a bit hectic, quite frankly – this one is the ultimate soothing fragrance. It’s an instant hit. You can find the Scottish Fine Soaps Au Lait range HERE.

I, too am a soap bar girl. I like to feel the soap and the suds forming when I am taking a shower or a nice long soak. I just wonder though, is this milky soap bar okay for lactose intolerant folks? (Okay, that was a joke!) Anyway, believe it or not, from the pic I can actually smell the soap and it smells divine!
Hi Olivia,
We’re thrilled that you like this and indeed – it’s fine for those lactose intolerant (not to be ingested)! The texture is as creamy as you’d expect and it has a delicate, cotton-fresh scent. Enjoy!
And Jane, thank you for the review.
I love this stuff! Found it at Marshall’s and TJ Maxx here in the US, it smells so lovely. I have tried to define the smell and all I can come up with is that it smells perfect.
