Revlon Spring 2014: Rio Rush

Revlon have properly gone off at a tangent for spring 2014! While other brands have gone all shy and pink for spring, Rio Rush is all about brights and a bronzed complexion that’s nowhere near the gentle spring collections that I’ve seen previously.

Hot colours! I have no clue how to wear the yellow in the Exotic Eyeshadow Quad, £7.99 – I want to wear it, but I’m thinking it will take more skill than I’ve got. Anyway, since it doesn’t launch til March, I’ve got plenty of time to practice. The lipsticks are gorgeously bright, apart from Ipanema Beach (the palest one) which is the sheerest wash of shimmer.

So from bottom to top: Ipanema Beach, Sultry Samba and Carnival Spirit. They’ll be £7.49 each.

There are two versions of this highlighting palette – I’m going to try this on my eyes for sure. The one shown is Bronze Glow, £8.99, but there is also a Rose Glow.

And, well, it’s all about the wow for nails! Gold Goddess and Oi Beautiful – both limited edition shades, £6.49. I love the energy of this range – it really lives up to its name of Rio Rush. It’s scheduled for March when a lot of the summer ranges will be launching, so no wonder there’s no baby pink!

Am I the only person thinking revlon have lots their minds with that eye palette? It won’t sell. Also it’s a very difficult colour to get right for pigmentation and consistency so will be interested to see how it performs…

Yellow’s always fun for the summer. £7.99 isn’t much for an eyeshadow palette with 4 colours, there will probably be some kind of 3 for 2 offer or something like that on too. Not really a big waste if u don’t use it all or if it doesn’t work for u.. just give it to a friend to try. lol.

  2. I love the look of the nail colours and the highlighting palette!

That quad reminds me a bit of one from the MAC bake cook collection or whatever it was called which I use with the yellow in the first quarter/third of the lid blended into the mid blue all over the rest and then the navy into the crease worn with a white dress normally to make it pop. The MAC one had a cream highlight shade but I guess the gold could work right along the inner tear ducts to highlight. It’s certainly not for everyone and as Bare Faced Chic said, those colours are hard to do with good pigment, especially if they are matte. Even MAC’s were pearl I think. I can’t quite remember because it is in my summer make up box!! >.<

Wow – those are some exotic eye colours. Defo one for the more adventurous. I love the highlighting palette though 🙂

I’m dying for that palette with the yellow in it! Some people think that yellow is too crazy, but it’s really not at all, & can be quite flattering. Recently, I did a look where I wore a matte charcoal eye & used a bright matte yellow similar to that one in the inner corner, & it looked great, very wearable & not crazy looking at all. Also, bright & colorful makeup is alot more popular than it used to be. Look at how well brands such as Sugarpill are doing, & Urban Decay came out with a palette of all brights-actually, many customers were saying that while the Nakeds were nice, to bring back the ‘old’ UD and start making more brights, & so far it’s been a big seller with all age groups.
