Revlon PhotoReady Prime + Anti-Shine Balm

I love the new Revlon PhotoReady Prime + Anti-Shine Balm – basically a compact, balm formula mattifier that doesn’t suffer from that heavy feel that many of the pore minimizer creams do.

The little sponge is more than adequate for applying the balm which goes on very lightly and smoothly. The trouble with the creams is, I think, that we’re over generous with them – with Revlon PhotoReady Prime + Anti-Shine Balm, the sponge diffuses the product so you get a very light swipe of formula. As it turns out, this is all that’s needed.

It definitely minimizes the look of pores (I haven’t tested it for last but you can top up over make up as a quick shine banisher throughout the day if needed) and you can wear it on its own as well for no-make-up-but-a-bit-really days. I’m so impressed with this – why has nobody thought of a compact balm version before? A million product developers at L’Oreal must be spitting right now! Because the exterior looks like a powder compact or compact foundation, dabbing on some top-ups is just going to look like you’re powdering your nose rather than dealing with your oil issues!

I think Revlon PhotoReady Prime + Anti-Shine Balm will be £9.99 very well spent if you have shiny skin when it hits the stores in January.

Benefit’s Dr Feelgood is a similar product – under or over make-up or on it’s own but more expensive at £23.50

Exactly what I was thinking, Lesley! I have been using Dr Feelgood for years, but when my tin runs out, I think I might try this instead.

The description kinda reminds me of Benefit’s Dr. Feelgood… but more affordable!

  3. Avon had a similar product years ago and I swore by it 🙂 Now I have a hate relationship with silicones and I doubt this is going go work as well fo me…

  4. Makeup Revolution released their Anti-Shine Balm a month or so ago.. which is identical to this but cheaper 😀 xx

They have thought about it before, though, haven’t they? Benefit’s Dr Feelgood springs to mind.

Yes, just been reminded of that – I had completely forgotten about it.

Still, this is much better value! Very curious to check it out.

  6. This sounds like something to be on the look out!

I didn’t know about the Benefit one, but this Revlon one looks *veeery* similar to a Dior limited edition I bought a few years ago, which I absolutely love so was gutted when I realised it was limited and I wouldn’t be able to replace it. So I definitely want to check this out, though thanks to other commenters will also be looking at the MUR version!

17 at Boots do a similar one as well, about £5 I think.

  11. Interesting product. Even if Benefit already has a similar offer, it’s nice to see a drugstore version. I’ll surely try it out as seen as I spy it on my local Boots. 😀

Love that drugstore brands are getting more innovative and introducing new formulas and formats on their lines.
