The Review: Oribe Hair Care

I was sent Oribe Signature Shampoo and Signature Conditioner to trial, which I’ve now done, and think I’ve finally found something to rival my beloved Ojon. I loved both the shampoo and conditioner; the shampoo for being light and ultra-cleansing, and the shampoo for being luxuriously slick and for rinsing out properly. My biggest bug-bear with conditioners is when I have to spend an extra god-knows-how-long in the shower trying to get it out of my hair – when that happens, the product’s next outing is to the bin. Post blow-dry, I have shiny, silky and healthy looking hair – you know, that stuff that ads promise but products generally don’t deliver. This one did and I’m hooked – even on the sinister looking packaging; very Twilight.

Meanwhile, in beautyland, the product that has caused the biggest beauty editor stir is Oribe Royal Blow Out that claims to cut down drying time – what miracles! It also apparantly unruffles the most troublesome hair into something approaching smoothness and shine. I have it here, but didn’t use it and even as I’m writing this, I’m wondering why. Next time, next time!

It’s all available at SpaceNK, but be warned, it isn’t cheap..prices start at £26ish.

Isn’t this stuff good? I have and love the creme for style, which tames even my frizziest of days (I am too slatternly with my hair to flat iron it, or even blow dry.)

The signature shampoo and conditioner is on my Christmas list.

  2. This line is creating a stir with beauty editors here in Canada as well, just so you know!

It’s also the only line that my hairdresser will carry – and in the 10 years I’ve been going to him he’s never liked a line enough to sell it in his salon. (This is a guy that’s so good I actually *pay* for him to cut my hair… which is practically unheard of for beauty editors. That’s why I trust him though – I’ve had too many bad free haircuts so I appreciate that he doesn’t pander to media… or the L’Oreals of the world.)

    Dear BB,

Please advise me on a shampoo & conditioner set that isn’t too pricey but at the same time not commercial brands like Pantene.

I have long, black hair that is dry at the ends but oily at the roots. Also because it’s too long and I have to constantly tie it up away from my face, the strands are very weak.

Also sometimes it is hard to find the suggested products, so if possible could you also include the name & place of the retailer ? Thank you.

  4. Hi Dinh: I’d suggest you look at the Klorane range – just google it for retailers, but in the UK its a pharmacy brand. It’s better than your average ‘supermarket shelf’ brands but not as pricy as high end brands like Oribe. They have several ranges for differing hair types, but it sounds like you should trim off the dry ends and work on conditioning the lower lengths of your hair only – so not the top where it is oily. sounds like something I need, I fried my hair within an inch of its life from black to white, quite literally, and then decided to go a natural browny blonde, but I’m lacking the sultry smooth kate moss sexy hair, and looking more like scarecrow!

    Dear BB,

Thank you for your advice. I’m delighted and will head out this weekend for my new haircare products.

One more thin -slightly irrelevantm but.. I absolutely adore Bliss products, mostly because of the adorable packaging and witty names and descriptions. The same goes for Soap & Glory. But I’m not sure if their products are actually any good ? And I want to consult you before spending a bunch of money on products that won’t actually do anything. FYI, I’m planning on a Bliss order consisting of products like the 20-in-1 balm, pore-purifying mask, lid+lash make-up remover, sets with gloves for hand and feet, the hot salt scrub and the slim city set (fatgirl, lovehandler and massager). Also some equipments such as the blackhead extractor and the towels.

    Please advise !

  7. Only thing I’d leave out of your line up is the Slim City set – not sure that it is the best, but then nothing much works for cellulite – you might as well massage and moisturise I believe to get the same effects. Otherwise, I think you have a very lovely shopping list! I like the Bliss products – and Soap & Glory – but that doesn’t mean you will too! I think they are effective and certainly pampering so hope they tick all the boxes for you too! x

My cousin recommended this blog and she was totally right keep up the fantastic work!

  9. I really pamper my self when it comes to hair and skin care. I would buy what is good for my hair. I love to experience the freshness of a certain shampoo on my scalp.
