Real Techniques Brush Cleanser

Real Techniques Brush Cleanser

There is definitely serendipity at work here – just when I’m feeling super guilty about not having washed my brushes for an embarrassingly long time, along comes Nic and Sam with their Real Techniques Brush Cleanser! There’s really no excuse now.

I just did a quick scoot on Selfridges to see how the price of £6.99 for 150ml compares to other brands (who knew that Clinique does a brush cleanser – HERE for £14?) and the Real Techniques Brush Cleanser comes out very nicely on price. Did it clean my brushes properly? Yes, it did – although I’ve only done one so far (I know, my bad). so there’s really nothing to complain about here and I like the alcohol free, gel like formula. Totally does the job, and I love the packaging too, although I can’t help seeing “ReTweet” when I see the letters RT together! You can find Real Techniques Brush Cleanser at Boots (although it’s not on line – inexplicably; Boots is driving me mad at the moment!).

  2. At last! This has been around in the US already and I’ve been waiting for it (although a bar of soap does the job just as well!)…handy to have around for in-between cleans. Thanks for the alert, Jane. Oh, and Boots…don’t get me started….

Hi there – it is on the boots website – just not in stock currently 🙁

okay, thank you.. it didn’t come up in a Real Techniques search OR a brush wash search.. how ever did you find it!

I found it by typing ‘brush clean.’ When I tried ‘brush cleaner,’ it didn’t show up. Weird.

Oddly enough I found it under brush sets as I was actually searching for the newer brush sets with the shiny handles – the eye set!

  3. I should try this! I went through a phase where I was washing my brushes every two weeks and now I’ve got lazy again! I find baby shampoo is good but doesn’t get my brushes looking like they are new so will give this a go x

I used to hate cleaning my brushes until I got the Sigma brush cleaning mat (not the glove) and watched a Lisa Eldridge video on brush cleaning. She said that she cleans her brushes with the cheapest 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner that she can find! Well! If it’s good enough for Lisa’s brushes, it’s certainly good enough for mine. Between the cheap shampoo and the brush-cleaning mat, what was once an odious task is now no problem at all. I wash my brushes once a week.

Estée Lauder do one £12, 235ml, I use it to spot clean my brushes daily then do a full clean every 1 to 2 weeks xxx

  6. I like the Sigma brush cleaning glove. I use a bar soap from da Vinci brushes that I purchased from Douglass before it pulled out of the US market.

I bought this in Boots a few weeks ago and promptly went home and cleaned a lot of brushes. I found it left my brushes lovely and soft when they had dried but I did need to use rather a lot of brush cleaner, so not sure how long the bottle will last.

  8. Not the biggest fan, i find that the bottle is a bit awkward to use and it doesn’t leave the brushes squeaky clean if you have a lot of product build up 🙁

  9. I like the alcohol free, too. It is really easy to clean your brushes. I clean them once per month. It is in my “to do” list. Thank you for sharing this article. Greetings!
