Just when you wonder exactly what else can be done to pimp up your hair dryer, Japan’s latest launch is the Plasmacluster Hair Dryer. Now, to me, all these ‘ions’ and coatings are a bit out of my technical understanding range and I often end up at events not being able to question exactly how it is a pair of straighteners or a dryer can infuse my hair with Argan oil or something similar. I just have to believe it or not.
The claims on the Plasmacluster (brilliant name!) from Sharp’s are that the dryer is able to keep the humidity in your hair while drying it with a water molecule and therefore banish any frizz. It tightens up the hair cuticles and reduces any static. It increases water molecules by 10% and apparently leaves dry hair feeling moist. Excuse me while my brain explodes.
It sounds like the most genius of all hair dryers and I have no doubt we’ll end up seeing a similar technology here eventually.

Sharp actually uses this technology on their air conditioners. I think the ion thing has to do with the fact that human hair has positive charge (water is non-ionic), so showering the hair with negative ion is supposed to eliminate static and adds shine.
So it’s an ionic hair dryer, improved. Yes? I don’t get this stuff either.
