These beauties! I know that when Paul & Joe brought out their cat lippies last year they sold out so quickly that lots of people didn’t even manage to pick one up. So, this summer, they’re back in a slightly different form.
The clear exterior wrap serves as a balm, while the core contains all the colour. The result (I’m afraid I’ve only done the lightest of swatches – I could not bear to really swipe at them) is a sheer dose of colour with a good sheen to it.
Here we go! The first one is 001, Catamaran, a toffee caramel nude, the second is Smooth Sailing, 003, a pinky coral, and 002, Ahoy, is last (I don’t know why I didn’t get them in order!) and is a light creamy pink with coral accents. These are very buttery in feel with cocoa seed butter, jojoba seed oil, lavender oil, orange flower water and white lily extracts and slip onto the lip. Because of the colourless outer section, you’re relying on the inner cat to do all the pigment work, so they’re lighter than the average lipstick in that respect, and to my mind behave more like glosses than actual ‘lipsticks’.
If you’re familiar with Paul & Joe then you’ll know you purchase bullet and casing separately – you might already have casings that will fit the new bullet, but if not, there are some new casings and not cardboard this time. They’re in a simple light or dark blue and white design in keeping with the ‘Sail Away’ theme of the summer collection. I literally wouldn’t care what the casings are like – it’s ALL about those kittens. I am putting my samples away in a safe place where nobody but me will ever find them again. Hurry up June!
