Paul & Joe Limited Edition Self Select Eye Colours

Moonbeam – creamy golden finish

Under The Stars – stardust finish multishimmer
Love-in-Idleness (pink finish)

Scheduled for a June launch these individual eye colours are really rather clever. On their own they are the palest of shimmers – each one has a slightly different finish – and they are all things pretty. However, the magic starts when you put them over a very dark colour, such as the Bourjois matte black I have used here or even a black eyeliner, and they transform the black into something quite exciting.

The only drawback is that they come unpackaged so you really need to invest in the shadow holder (£8.50) to keep them in. The eye shades are £12.50 each, but because they have multi use, I’d really recommend them. You have to like shimmer though and I haven’t captured even a tenth of what they can do on camera – thank you dark thundery clouds above! I also think they’d work amazingly well on navy shadow, darkest green or even deep browns to give an edgy colour selection you probably can’t find elsewhere.

Exciting! Guerlain used to have a palette like this, it is a very nice way to mix up your existing shadows.

They look amazing over the black!

  3. these look lovely but I think I am at the point where I am going to boycott brands that force you to buy a separate palette at what is quite a high price. It’s one thing choosing to depot but I don’t like being denied the option of buying a single shadow in a format I can store it in. Bobbi Brown has the right approach I think.

  4. Hi Great She… you could buy them individually if you had somewhere to store them..like a magnetic palette.

eeeek, these look really good and i must admit that when i first saw the swatches on their own i didn’t expect much from them….but when i scrolled down and saw them on top of the black, it looked 10 times better! they look gorgeous and can transform any shadow 🙂 I always love Paul and Joes packaging, but never got round to purchasing products from them yet.
    Thanks so much for sharing~x

  6. Yes, but that still means buying a separate palette. This idea of turning packaging into a separate product you have to pay extra for as opposed to an integral part of the item is the issue as far as I’m concerned. It’s very clever I suppose as a revenue increasing measure but I want none of it. Many of these brands are overpriced enough as it is. I like the idea of the flexibility of picking your own colours for a trio but the palette should be free.

ELF also have a reall reasonably priced palette identical to this, which I love for its versatility. Also, the 4 shade ELF palette costs less than one ofthese shades and is just as effective. I love mine!

I’ve been waiting these for the longest time. I am so excited for them. Also loving the whole collection. I’ve got one of the lipglosses but will be getting the powder but would also love a blusher or two…. best get saving!

  9. Hey,
Just as a heads up in case you want to find something cheaper and that you don’t want to purchase a separate palette, the Body Shop do eye shimmers which do pretty much the same thing! I have the green one and use it over a black cream eyeshadow and it goes this amazing emerald green!
