If you love fragrance, the new Maison de Parfums opening in Selfridges will be right up your street, especially as it is built to be a mirror of the House of Dior on Avenue Montaigne in Paris.  We’re talking iconic Dior greys, floor to ceiling plasma screens of the Gardens of Dior, touch screen history of Dior interactivity and 40 different phials of raw ingredients so you can pick out your favourite fragrances.
There are several bespoke ‘fragrance journeys’ to be made, including Dior Signature Fragrance Discovery for Two, Dior Mother and Daughter Fragrance Treat and Dior Brides Signature Fragrance Indulgence . I’m thinking there are worse ways to spend a morning.
I’ve been lucky enough to have received one of the fragrances from La Collection Privee Christian Dior, New Look 1947. Each fragrance is inspired by a person, place or moment in time, and New Look 1947 is inspired by the fashion revolution that took place in, yes, 1947,  after Christian Dior’s first ever fashion show. It’s a beautiful, light, floral fragrance with ylang ylang, jasmine, rose and tuberose – perfect for summer. Actually, the lid has a magnetic click when you take it off or put it back on again – a little bit addictive in itself! La Collection Privee fragrances start at £120, and the Maison de Parfums opens on Monday, 4th April 2011.
