Otis Batterbee Nail Colour Review

[unpaid/sample] You may well know the name, Otis Batterbee, for luxury make up brushes – he currently has a collaboration with everyone’s favourite make up artist, Caroline Barnes (HERE)- but a little diversification never hurt anyone and so, here are the Otis Batterbee Nail Colours.

There are six different Nail Bar In A Box offerings – Reds, Pinks, Greys, Jellys, Deeps and Nudes – and as you see, I have the red variant here. I know that the reds I’m showing you look somewhat similar and you do need to be particular about your reds to appreciate the difference – I am and therefore I have completely fallen for Exacting Crimson, a visceral and juicy blood red that would give vampires a reason to look twice.

In this picture, Exacting Crimson is on the right and Rather Red on the left. The deepest red is Really Ruby. There are also several trio sets that are a single colour and a Top and Bottom Coat.

If you have nail aficionado in your sights, I can’t see that they’d not utterly love this. It’s all so luxe. I love the bottle shapes, the nail polish brushes are perfection as you might expect, and the shades are deep and highly saturated. As you can see, you also get a crystal nail file with the Nail Bar In A Box sets – a word of warning if you haven’t used these before – they will out-file any emery board by about 100 times. They take a lot of excess nail off at a time so go gently! They also last forever.

From bottom to top on the wheel (and I’m sorry, I stuck my finger on Exacting Red – insert eyeroll emoji) are: Rather Red, Really Ruby and Exacting Red. The formulations are boosted with apricot and vitamin E and free from the usual suspects.

The application is as smooth as a Rolls Royce – it’s sublime; the brush is a joy as it hugs around the nail and the formula is gleaming from the get-go with two coats being all that are needed for a full colour depth. My one small niggle is that the top coat isn’t a quick dry so I gave my nails an extra top coat over the Otis top coat with a fast-dry and the shine is incredible. These truly feel like luxury polishes. At the moment, I see that the sets are £63.75 instead of £75 and the trios are £29 HERE. If you want to buy single shades, you can find them for £15 each (23 shades) at Fenwick HERE.
