Right, in order to get your head around this one, you should banish the word ‘need’ from your mind. It’s far more about whether you’re buying into multi-layered skin care and enjoying the new steps. Origins Maskmizer is a pre-mask mist that supposedly softens pores and makes the outer layer of skin more receptive to any mask that goes on top of it.
I do like the idea of this – I just don’t know how you’d prove that it has done anything. I love an Origins mask and have plenty of them, so over time, maybe I will be able to tell but I am a little bit reminded of the pre-shampoo shampoo that everyone kind of went “whaaa?” about. It’s only the fact that it is Origins, a brand I really like and that hasn’t let me down on claims, that’s stopping me from doing my ‘wait a minute..’ face.
Anyway, Origins Maskimizer launches in February for £18.50.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall at he product development meetings
This is interesting Jane. Please come back to this & do an update as I’m super curious.
Jane, can I ask what the active ingredients are in this product? Europeans have been using desincrustation lotions for years to soften pores before masks, exfoliation etc, and I’m wondering if it’s a similar kind of thing. Thank you
Hi there.. yes I have this from the brand, “Marine Algae Complex helps hydrate and soften skin so it’s better ready to accept a mask. Rich in polysaccharides, potent anti-irritants to soothe skin, the formula keeps skin strong and calm, and therefore, in a more optimised state”..
Thank you! That’s very helpful. I’m still not sure I understand how it will make a mask treatment more effective, but maybe that’s just me! x
to be honest the proof of the pudding and all that..
I honestly think this is such a clever idea! Like you, I wonder how you prove it’s working without throughly testing a mask with and without the primer. I love the idea though and I love the innovation from Origins!
