NYX Smokey Shadow Palette

NYX Smokey Shadow Palette

When I think back to not even so long ago, in the UK our choice of make up was far more limited than it is now. I think we’re so lucky to have what we have – budget is no barrier to beautiful make up looks. Brands like collection, Makeup Revolution and Rimmel London knock out some brilliant buys that emulate far more expensive items. NYX launched into the UK some time ago – then disappeared – then came back! It was bought by L’Oreal some time ago and is slowly but surely making its re-entry. There’s always a danger that when a brand gets snapped up by a big corporation, it loses its identity somewhat, but I can see that NYX at this early stage is hanging on to its personality. There are plus points too when beauty brands are bought – bigger budgets to produce more product, better technology and a much better distribution system so availability becomes easier.

NYX Smokey Palette

The NYX Smokey Shadow Palette is a good example of budget brands doing things better – at £8, I think it’s brilliant value, and I love that it teams beige and navy (last seen, I believe in a beautiful Bobbi Brown palette) as well as shimmery charcoal and black.

NYX formulas are variable – this one has a high percentage of talc which isn’t ideal, but I found it easy on the blend and it lasted well, too. You can find it HERE.

  1. The white and beige shades look lovely but the darker ones look a little muddy to me in the swatches x

  2. That looks like a really decent palette for the price. NYX launched in Ireland last year, and stands have been popping up in pharmacies all over the place which is great, so many really good products for such affordable prices. Now if only Milani would come over this side of the Atlantic!!

  3. This is pretty and it’s at a great price point! Although, I’d love to see a palette with lighter tones!

NYX has a similar one here in the U.S. that’s called Adorable. It has more neutral tones: peachy pink, matte taupe & the darkest shade is a deep brown with gold flecks. Good palette for the price!
