You need a particular light to get the most from the new NYX Cosmic Metals – on a dull day they look flat and uninspiring, but when the light hits them they’re pretty impressive in terms of metallic glimmer and sheen. Day to day, I have to admit, I don’t really see many people wearing a metallic lip so maybe they’re more Instagram than reality.
The new metals line up follows the sunset shade trend – although I think that the Cosmics are best in avant garde colours; checking on-line on the NYX site, those are the ones that are in the sale – the greens and the blues.
Colours from bottom to top are: Retro Harmony, Crystallized Metal, Metropolitan Night, Elite, Galactic Love and Celestial. The texture is a creme so to me these are more like liquid lipsticks than glosses. The new shades launch into Boots on 2nd August and everywhere else from 29th August.

The colours look beautiful for autumn (sssh) but I am a bit concerned about how my late 40s lip lines might show up.. !

I wouldn’t normally be the first in line to buy a metallic lipstick but a couple of these NYX shades look quite pretty. NYX is so affordable that I might just pick up a few shades and see how I get on – I’m thinking a light layer on top of a lipstick, so I don’t get the full on metallic look.
