Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm Review

[purchase/affiliate] The fact that SpaceNK stocks a £12 lip balm is surprise enough in that rarified beauty environment but the fact that it’s excellent is even better. It gives me Sisley vibes and the new Naturium ‘Natural’ shades instantly made me think of Victoria Beckham Tan Lines lip gloss. No wonder e.l.f. snapped up this brand last year. Naturium isn’t that well known – yet – in the UK but the fact that e.l.f. paid $355 million for this brand tells you that you’ll be hearing an awful lot more about it. Currently, SpaceNK is the only stockist but very good luck to them on that one because there can only be expansion plans.

The only thing that gives me slight beauty cynic shudders is the description that it’s a ‘biocompatible’ beauty brand. Biocompatible means compatible with living tissue – i.e. not toxic or an irritant – so it’s a big word to use for something we expect from our beauty products anyway.

Cutting to the chase, I chose the shade Chai (hence Tan Lines vibes) from the Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm range, which is a wonderfully glossy milky caramel shade that looks instantly sophisticated and delicious. The notable working parts are shea, capuacu butter and plant squalane (squalane in anything is an instant tick) to give moisture and softness to the lips. I love a glossy balm (or a lip gloss) – the older I get, the more I want that lightfulness and casual effortlessness that it brings.

Balm ingredients in a gloss is really the holy grail – a double duty worker that every make up bag will benefit from. If I’m being just a tiny bit picky, the tip tends to let out a bit too much product so go easy on your first squeeze until you get used to the flow. There are four shades in the natural collection – Chai, Spice, Mocha and Latte (the latter is out of stock) and a further five shades. You can find the Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Glow HERE.
