[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’m actually pretty good at doing my own nails – I once did a stint with The Body Shop painting models’ nails before they went on stage for London Fashion Week and it turns out that while I am excellent at my own manicures, doing it on someone else is another thing entirely. My nail polish application usually starts with a bottom coat, then two coats of polish and finishing with a quick dry top coat and some nail oil. People, it’s a process.

Now, that might be a sleight of hand, marketing wise, but nonetheless, this polish really works at giving your nails a gel-like appearance and drying in quick time.
I’ve chosen the (very on trend if you follow nail trends) pastel shades and a very bright red. Above you see, from left to right, Miley, Camilla and Hailey.

I’m wearing milky lavender Hailey and have applied two coats. Even if you don’t feel confident in your own abilities, trust me, if I can, you can. The key really is to go slowly – have a folded tea towel underneath your hand so you have some extra balance and stroke a generous coat onto your nail. Nails Inc brushes are some of the most intuitively shaped that you can get so you will only need to do two strokes. I’d suggest doing one hand at a time – get it finished and dried before embarking on the other one. Wait for the coat to look semi-dry – it starts to look less wet and glossy – and then apply another coat. Give it a few minutes to dry – and truly, it dries like quick dry top coat but takes a minute longer – and you are done. Off you go! The advantage of It’s Topless, apart from being a two coat process, is that it gives the same thick effect on the nail that really does mimic a gel nail that’s been lamp cured.
