There’s not much that’s hotter than Minx nails right now, especially if they’re in Thierry Mugler style AND worn by Lady Gaga AND styled by Nicola Formichetti (Lady G’s longtime stylist and new creative director of the Thierry Mugler brand). Minx co-founders Janice Jordan and Dawn Lynch-Goodman and Marian Newman collaborated with Nicola to produce catwalk Minxes to compliment the Mugler catwalk show. Here are some amazing backstage shots showing the Marian Newman lead nail team, including everyone’s favourite nail stylist, David Barton. It took the nail team of six four hours to apply the Thierry Minx foils to the 35 models for the catwalk. Whew! Marian interpreted Nicola’s wish for a nail form that was animalistic and cat-claw like, but with an elegant twist. He requested two or three types of matte noir, matte nuit, matte olive, matte peach, matte Wedgewood blue and electric blue to match the tones of the clothing. Lady G wore pointed stiletto nails with matte black Minx with a ‘trashed’ edge (I SO want to trash my edges!) achieved by stretching the Minx over the edge of the nail and twisting.
