I do love pretty packaging, so was instantly taken with the beautiful imagery on Milla Maddern Goat Milk Soaps. I’m not much of a shower gel fan; I like a proper soap, and although I haven’t put these to the test yet, an ingredient list containing goat’s milk (protein rich), organic Shea, jojoba and Manuka honey, it sounds like a winning combination, and at £6 a pop, very affordable.
I have to admit to feeling a bit weird about animal milk in beauty products and I don’t know why because they’re probably much more natural and gentle than any chemical, but I notice that this weirdness is by degrees. So, cow’s milk is fine, goat’s milk is kind of fine with a slight reservation, and donkey milk is just no! It’s not rational, I know.

I’ve tried Jane Maddern’s soaps and they are lovely. What I particularly like about them apart from the beautiful scents and the textile wraps they come in is that they are so soft and milky, non drying on the skin and they actually dissolve. Regular soap just seems to last forever, way beyond the point you actually want them to.
