It’s about time we had something new from Melvita! I really like all the new body products coming through at the moment to change things up from lipsticks. There are so many products in the Melvita range that I like and I still think it’s a bit too undiscovered (Melvita belongs to the L’Occitane family) when there really are some gems.
So, the Melvita Nectar de Roses Collection launches in February (I don’t have an exact day) and as you might guess from the title, it’s all about the roses – wild roses to be precise. Although, to split hairs a little, how wild is a cultivated wild rose, because I am pretty sure Melvita is not combing the French countryside for random wild rose crops. Maybe it’s just a generic name.
Okay – so my first hit of this reminded me of Johnson’s Baby Lotion! It’s comprised of 3 wild roses, Rose Gallica, Rose Mosqueta and Rosa Canina which doesn’t make for a huge, blousy rose scent, but a more refined, powdery and green vibe. I think it’s the powdery notes that are giving me Johnson’s, to be fair. But, if you like the idea of roses fresh with the stalks and leaves, you’ll love this. It’s £36.
The Shower Gel and the Hydrating Veil (£15) are beautiful too – just perfect for spring (should we ever have it) with a lightness and freshness to them that stop any sickly notes at all. The Veil is a very light moisturiser – silky on the skin but not for you if you have seriously dry skin, despite it promising 24 hour moisture. Rose Petal Shower Gel (£13) is the treat of the season – so pretty and light in a soap free formula.
The star of the show though is the little Nectar de 3 Roses (£10), a multi purpose balm that is great for lips or dry bits. It’s not overwhelmingly scented – more of a whisper of rose than anything but it feels beautifully nourishing wherever you choose to put it.
Products like the Melvita Nectar de Roses Collection are all about the affordable treat to self – despite February being the shortest month of the year, it can feel like the longest and a little rosy pick-me-up might be just the ticket.
