Maybelline Chaotic Mascara

Maybelline Chaotic Mascara

When I looked around the internet for reviews on Maybelline Chaotic Mascara, I didn’t really need to go past the sad-face images to know that it wasn’t getting raves.

I posted a while back on the ‘chaotic’ look for lashes – the ‘too long at the party’ or ‘I didn’t make it home last night’ kind of messy lash look. I still think it’s rather cool that Maybelline took what we consider to be a bad look and turned it on its head to make it a statement look. I gave it a try myself (live on Periscope!) yesterday, and ironically, was disappointed that I couldn’t make it look messy enough! However, this formula takes a while to dry, and when I re-checked some time later, my lashes actually did look slightly clumpy, ‘I slept face down on my pillow all night’ crumpled. But only slightly.

So, I totally get what Maybelline have tried to do here – the brush is shaped so you wiggle the mascara on – badly obviously – but I’m certain that it’s a look I don’t want to adopt. That said, it has made me think about highly groomed lashes and now I don’t know that I want that either. There has to be some middle ground! I like an amplified lash look and have to say that Maybelline Chaotic Mascara is super-black; it’s maybe worth experimenting using a different brush to get a tidier version of that heavy, rock-chick look. Or, you could just get another mascara altogether….. ! I’ve just done a quick scoot about the interwebs and it’s either not in stores yet or it’s sold out (unlikely!).

  1. This products really did confuse me. My lashes that I have trained to stay in place and look fluttery and long now are supposed to crooked and all over the place. I tried it once and everything about it felt wrong

Can’t we just go back to the gimmicky Maybelline Dial-a-lash Mascara? Why do we want mascara that looks like we tar onto spider legs?

  3. Totally agree with you. Way too crumpy. I spotted this the other day too and I was like whaaa??? Sheesh. It doesn’t really jump out at me.

  4. I loved your live demo of this mascara on Periscope! Such a shame that it doesn’t live up to the lovely press picture! I can see why you were so disappointed!
