Max Factor Excess Volume #Selfeye

Today we’re going behind the scenes on my fruit-shoot to show off the closest thing I’ve ever come to a gloss mascara, Max Factor Excess Volume Extreme Impact mascara. Please meet the star of the show, Tangerina, who I have plucked from obscurity. Also, you’ll notice the gorgeous Peaches lashes in 02.

So, here’s how the lashes look close up, without mascara. They’re long and sweeping but not too full.

And now, here’s Tangerina looking every inch the fruitermodel. Excess Volume is a double ended mascara, so I put on a layer of Extreme Volume and followed it up with the Dark Lacquer end. You can see there is definitely some sheen to the lashes after the lacquer stage.

I think actual patent looking lashes aren’t ever going to be possible – I’m not sure what chemicals you’d have to put in to get literally a lacquer shine, but this is definitely the closest mascara technology has come. Mind you, someone would have to be looking pretty hard at your lashes to notice it, but because it’s so volumising, they might well do that! Max Factor Excess Volume has launched today for £12.99, HERE, and if you want to join in the fun, you can post your own #Selfeye (see what they did there) to Twitter with the hashtag so MF can have a good look at your lush lashes.

I’m afraid I don’t trust Max Factor after the debacle of the 48hr mascara.

Really? That worked quite well for me – although it was only on my bottom lashes.

I’m afraid it was on your review that I bought it. It was a disaster – the reviews across the board after launch were all the same. On Boots.com after 42 reviews, it averages 1.5 stars.
Didn’t last two hours, let alone two days.
I fell for the hype :/

Oh no… I hate it when that happens. I can promise you that I never post dishonest reviews, but it could be that it didn’t last as well on top lashes which I didn’t get a chance to try because I have lash extensions. I found that Day 1 and 2 were absolutely great, and it was fading significantly by Day 3..I am so surprised by this but also very grateful you pointed it out and so sorry that you didn’t find it good.

Oh gosh, Jane, I didn’t for a second mean your review was dodgy! You *know* I trust your blog! On me, it gave me madbad Panda eyes within a couple of hours – and for a lot of folks too.
I still listen to what you say and spend w-a-y too much on your recs! :o)

I’m still sorry about it though.. I hate it when products don’t perform well and worse when someone buys on my recommendation and it doesn’t live up to the claims. x

  5. It always makes me laugh when you use fruit as a model!

Have you tried Mavala’s Creamy Mascara? Reviews seem to indicate that it has at least a semi-glossy finish.
