Max Factor Elixir Boutique: Smart Make Up

You might have spotted my counter ticking away to the launch of these products; a two in one serum-foundation and ravishing lipsticks. I’ll come back to the foundation more thoroughly in a later post, but initial impressions are excellent. Combining anti-ageing skincare and coverage with SPF15, it’s smart make up packed with soft focus spheres that give a deliciously dewy finish and is perfect for skin showing signs of ageing.

But the lipstick is what is giving the wow factor for me right now. Made with 60% ‘Elixir’ treatment, comprising shea, avocado and aloe butters, along with white tea for anti-oxidant properties that smoothes the surface of the lip in seven days. So, you get to wear amazing, bright, pigment packed lipstick and it makes your lips look better. What’s not to love? There are 15 shades coming, all with the same formula and they had their debut on the A/W catwalks when Pat McGrath, Global Creative Design Director for Max Factor, used them on the catwalks. They’ll be £7.99 each. Swatched here is Ruby Tuesday, a vivid, creamy red that I don’t know if I’m brave enough for, but I know the red girls will absolutely love.

The collection launches in 16 days time!

  2. Cant wait for these lipsticks! Ill definitely be hot-footing it to Boots to have a look! I love how drugstore brands are becoming increasingly high-end standard. Max Factor being a great example.

They’re already stocking the entire range in my local Superdrug – I have to say the foundation is incredible! I tried some on in store and couldn’t believe how fresh and dewy my complexion looked hours later. Definitely one to rival the launch of Healthy Mix serum, perhaps?

The high end brands are taking the fun out of cosmetics because the products are becoming too expensive. It’s good to see the drugstore brands raising their game.

  6. The texture looks gorgeous – and so affordable! Ican’t wait to see what other colours they have coming out

  7. I am very excited about these lipsticks myself. They look very promising! x

I wonder if this is the same as Cover Girl’s Lip Perfection here in the US, which was incredibly drying in a nearly painful way for me – but the reviews I read about it didn’t have that problem. I miss Max’s Vivid Impact lipstick here, personally.

I just tried the elixir foundation today and to my skin it immediately made my nose oily and felt heavy on the skin. Didn’t really provide the smooth finish that I’d expected. Quite disappointing as I actually love Max Factor.
