Marni Purse Spray
Marni Purse Spray

Marni, as a fragrance, is a bit of a surprise. There are so many quirky touches and plenty of imagination in making it a fragrance that stands out in the huge perfume crowd. I love creativity of the Marni Purse Spray – it’s a sturdy card tube that pulls up to reveal a second tube with a cut out dress shape that reveals part of the bottle. Within the second tube is the bottle.

..a little spotted number. I think it’s so sweet that I hardly care what the fragrance smells like! There are two varieties; Marni Rose Eau de Parfum or Marni Il Profumo – my sample is the Il Profumo, a warm floral that has the ability to just become part of you, rather than sitting on you. A skin scent, in a way. Rose is obviously, er, more rose but has a little pinch of spice to keep things different.

If you remember the Bambolina doll from last year that completely sold out (but unbelievably, Harrods still have some HERE) and accompanied the 2013 Marni Purse Spray, this is a variation on that theme but not so huggy. If you don’t know Marni as a fashion brand, it’s Italian and created by Consuelo Castiglione who has a love of dolls. I’m so glad she’s bringing out the playful side of fragrance – it can all get a little bit too rarified and serious and the Marni Purse Spray for 2014 is all about having fun with your perfume. Why not? There’s still a child within all of us.

The Marni Purse Spray for this year will also be stocked at Harrods… they haven’t quite got it on line yet, but keep checking. It’s £25.
