I just happened upon these beautiful oil blotters today at the Japanese Book Shop in Denman Street (London) where they stock several Japanese beauty products from the Makanai line.

What I absolutely love about these little blotters is that each sheet has rabbits printed on it – the premise being that once all the oil has been absorbed, the rabbits change appearance.

I wish I’d scooped up a few more things – maybe not the Brown Sugar & Horse Oil Facial Soap (omg!) but certainly the Steam Lip Mask – in fact, I think I NEED that so I’ll pop back next time I’m passing.

I used some olive oil from my food cupboard to put the ‘change’ to the test. Oh my! I really feel like I’ve stumbled upon a little piece of beauty magic, here! For £4.50, too! Why doesn’t everyone do blotters like this?

Makanai is the Japanese term for a company employee benefit (remember the free Japanese loo rolls I bloggeed about?) and the skin care range was made originally as a perk for employees at a Gold Leaf factory. I know. You couldn’t make it up. I’m so happy with this find and I’ve been smiling about it all day long! The Makanai website is HERE but it’s not great on the translation – but they do ship.
