MAC Velvetease

I said I had an abundance of MAC, so next up is the MAC Velvetease launch, in February. Personally, I’m not a matte lip lover, but the perfect matte lip requires precision like no other. If you can’t be bothered with a lip brush, MAC Velvetease seems like a good alternative with just a bit more accuracy for on the go touch ups than a regular lipstick.

As you can see, they’re powershots of colour – this is literally one swipe of each shade. From bottom to top: Anything Goes, Ready To Go and the Barbiest of pinks, Tease Me, but the shade I’m dying to get my hands on is Velvet Teen – a blackened plum shade. Not that I’d ever be brave enough to wear it!

In the MAC Velvetease range there are 12 shades – there’s something for everyone from calm neutrals to hot reds and while there’s nothing new in a pencil format lip shade, you don’t actually need to sharpen these because they extend when you rotate the bottom end. They’re £17.50 each.

  1. I love a matte lip! They look very similar to the NARS ones which I love so I am very excited about these! Thanks for sharing x

My eye is drawn to the red but I already have Nars Dragon Girl so I doubt I need another! Bad brain, wanting more matte red lipsticks!

I love your blog, the massive amount of info you provide, the “news” being delivered really early and so on, but what I find odd are sentences like this ” but the shade I’m dying to get my hands on is Velvet Teen – a blackened plum shade. Not that I’d ever be brave enough to wear it!”

It’s just upping the whole buying-for-buying sake. You could easily have phrased it differently in regards to your appreciation of the colour, without the whole “I’m buying it, but won’t be using it”. I am aware of “collecting mint make up” but this doesn’t at all sound like it in this case.

MAybe I am reading my own thoughts into this .And as I said, I’m reading your blog with great joy and respect for e.g. your openness about brand behaviour in PR et al.

I’m not suggesting what one/you should do or not, I’m just saying how odd I find it as a reader, when I consider price and abundancy of products.

    I hope I haven’t overstepped a line.

If I’ve understood you correctly, you think I’m encouraging over-buying? I am totally a collector of make up and I don’t really care who knows it! I have products I have never used and never will; it’s my love of make up that led to this blog. I’m assuming that my adult audience will make their own decision about what is ‘need’ for them and not be swayed into buying things they don’t want – it just seems odd that you think that to be honest. I give out information and sometimes opinion and have literally always assumed that BBB is a service for people who like beauty products: generally I find that BBB readers are super clever – know far more than me about beauty and therefore are entirely in charge of making their own decisions. But thank you for commenting and I’m glad you’re (generally!) enjoying the blog. x
