MAC Studio Radiance 24HR Luminous Lift Concealer Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Genes are your biggest indicator for dark circles, not tiredness. It’s just a very normal thing to have and one of the things that the magnifying mirror of doom really doesn’t help with. What you see compared to what everyone else sees is often very different. I don’t conceal generally, even though I have dark circles, because it doesn’t really matter to me what anyone else thinks! I also find that, on me, it usually exacerbates the finer lines around my eyes making them more obvious than if there’s nothing there.

However, a new concealer is a cause for great excitement and I’ve been testing out the MAC Studio Radiance 24HR Luminous Lift Concealer – a blend of hyaluronic, Vitamin C and Niacinamide so it’s designed as a daily use concealer that’s in part acting as an eye cream (I don’t use eye creams either!).

I’ve got two shades here – NW5 and NW15 – NW15 being my shade in MAC foundations although I did think, when I tried it on, it looks more orange toned than I remember it and I’m wondering if MAC has had reformulation or my memory needs a test. Actually, just uncovered an old NW15 Studio Fix Fluid and I’m going to say that Studio Radiance is a slightly different NW15 shade – more orange toned so you might want to relook at your usual shade – get matched in store or use a shade finder.

Above, NW5 (light) and NW15.

A thing we need to throw the halo over MAC for is that they make labels where you can actually read the shade number without having to resort to a magnifying glass! If you’re a mid-lifer with ‘menu eyes’ like me (have to hold the menu so far away to focus that I need arm extensions) this is a big bonus.

Despite the shade discrepancy, I think it’s done a very good job of covering my natural dark circles. It reminds me of a long since discontinued Dior concealer with its lightness of touch and cool to the skin feel. It blends beautifully using the tapping method. I have it fully blended on my right eye and dotted on my left so you can see for yourself. It’s £26 HERE which feels fair because it is superior to other concealers that I’ve tried and MAC has a decent shade finder tool that you can use if you are not near a counter. Do bear in mind your tone is likely to be warmer now than it will be in winter and since we are heading to cooler climes, weather wise, you may want to adjust your choice.
