MAC Metallic Lipsticks

MAC Metallic Lipsticks

Swit-swoo! The MAC Metallics collection is back. MAC are generally good at shinies – these are a mix of pearl and chrome with either copper, bronze or titanium back drops. I tried them on a Facebook Live and wasn’t massively impressed with the level of pigment although in a better light, the pink shade, Ionized Iris, did spring to life more with evident sparkles that were more wearable than I was expecting.

The silver shade, Silver Spoon, is more impressive in the tube than on the lip. It does give a ‘grey washed’ lip look which I really like but it’s much more sheer in colour than I was expecting.

Here they are swatched.. maybe you can see that they’re not as ‘pow’ as they look in the tube once on the skin. The disappointment was the pigment – my shade is copper – and it just somehow seems a little flat. It doesn’t look as shiny on the skin as it does in the pot although I guess it will depend upon how you use it. You can add it into a lip gloss for example, and the light reflects from that will liven it up, but I feel that a shiny looking pigment should actually be very shiny. The only thing I will say is that it’s a low light day, so perhaps that’s a contributor to the lack of gleam.

Lipsticks are £16 and Pigments are £16 – they’re in stock on the UK MAC site.

  1. I really want to pick up one or two of the metallic lipsticks! 😀

I have my eye on a purple shade that I cannot for the life of me remember the name of. 😛
