And, it’s London Fashion Week again. I’m not sure how these come around so quickly but they do. I got a pass this afternoon for the Jean-Pierre Braganza show with MAC to see Terry Barber, director of make-up artistry at MAC bring his beauty look to the SS15 collection show.
The vibe for the show was a little bit of biker chic with some strong smoked wings and metallic inlays. Apparently, this winged look is hard to do because you have to start at the outside and work in.. Terry has coined the look ‘The Jumbo Topliner’. All the focus was on the top lids.. heavy and dark, in complete contrast to the rest of the face which was literally spring fresh with dewy skin and drawn on freckles (see the model pic above) achieved with Lingering Eye Brow Pencil. The trick for faux freckles is to use the side of the pencil rather than try and draw them straight on – it knocks out the uniformity and makes them look far more natural.
Like the song that completes the album, Terry’s make up was integral to the look – often you go to runway shows and there’s no connection between the face and dress, but in the case, there really was. The metallics on the middle of the upper lids literally flashed under the lights when the models blinked, and if Jean Pierre Braganza’s colour palette is next spring’s hot shades, then it will be my best spring ever! Lots of white, cafe au lait, caramel and black. Perfection!
