Lixir Skin Colette’s Facial Kit Review

This mini set from Lixir Skin was such a treat to trial. It’s designed to provide a full facial experience (you can do it from your sofa – I did) that is a real boost to the complexion. I love this idea – a facial in a bag filled with everything you need to do a bit of worthwhile pampering.

I didn’t start off with the Electrolite Gel Cleanser because I was testing a cleansing balm so I skipped that bit, but were you to follow the facial to the letter, you’d start with Electrolite and add in an Ionic Shot (sachet, 3 included) for clarifying if you felt you needed it. That’s probably the only part that you’d need to do over the sink. There are three sachets of Peel Express which is the next step and you need to leave it on for about 20 minutes.

I’m lazy and impatient so I kept a clean, damp cloth on the radiator next to the sofa and used that for removal before applying the Vitamin C Paste. I must say that Peel Express is where the facial starts to take shape – when you remove the product (which may lightly tingle) your skin will feel freshly blessed by angels in terms of softness. The Vitamin C Paste is designed to brighten which I felt skeptical about until I removed it after five or so minutes and saw my skin looking visibly clearer and fresher.

You finish with Universal Emulsion – a thoroughly pleasant feeling moisturizer led by Squalane, one of my favourite skin care ingredients. Colette, by the way, is a very experienced beauty product formulator and she has probably had a hand in most of your very favourite products. She went pink long before Glossier did :-). I did my facial in the evening (Strictly results!) and not only did my complexion look both rested and refreshed, that lasted all night so I woke up with softened, brightened skin that I feel very pleased with.

My usual advice, especially when peeling, is to do it in the morning – don’t let your pillow be the only thing that sees your hard work. While I will stick with that advice I can say that results for this particular range last until the next day. The nice thing about it is that it took about 40 minutes to see it through so I did feel like I’d paid proper attention to my skin and, miraculously, it felt like a treat, not a chore. It’s £29 with a value of £39 and I wouldn’t hesitate to send to friends as birthday or cheer up treats. Find it HERE
