Liberty London Bath & Body Range

Eek, I’ve been meaning to post about this for ages, but didn’t quite get to it. So, what’s exciting about this range? Well, it is created by the beauty buyers at Liberty.

I’m sure I don’t need to explain, but a beauty buyer’s job is to source and buy new and exciting beauty products as well as monitor and negotiate on existing ranges. There is obviously more to it than that, but a really good buyer can make or break your beauty department and everyone is hoping to find the next cult beauty product that just sells and sells. It’s very, very clear who are the really hot buyers if you are, like me, constantly watching the beauty world.

So a range created by buyers has more reason than many brands to be the best of the best. I haven’t tried this range so let me know if you have? I’m very keen to see if it lives up to expectations. The range comprises soap, body lotion and handwash in traditionally ‘British’ scents such as geranium, lavender and rose.

  1. So is this basically a Liberty’s own brand? If so, I’d be interested to know if this is a bit of a one-off or a long term strategy. Do they plan to become like Body Shop and only stock their own stuff in the long run? And do they plan to become a brand in their own right that they can sell into other distribution routes? And should I stop asking industry insider questions on a popular blog?

Liberty has long had its own range of body lotion/bath oil/soap. I have been in love with their Grapefruit and Jojoba scent for the last few years but it’s been increasingly hard to get when I visit the shop. They had a couple of other scents as well but the Grapefruit was my favourite. Does this new range replace the old ones then? I’ll be very sad to see the Grapefruit and Jojoba scent go!

This fragrance was also a favourite of mine but liberty stopped several years ago. If anyone can recommend a similar one I’d be grateful. I have recently found the closest yet to that beautiful fragrance oddly at work with a product by Paragon.
