There were over a hundred entries for this giveaway and I have to say I loved reading the entries. I asked what your best Christmas present ever was and there were some amazing stories, from Tressie Dolls and Barbies to puppies and Christmas babies; some were uplifting and funny, others were really very moving and I was very glad that it isn’t me that chooses the recipient of the giveaway because there wasn’t one that didn’t resonate in some way.
However, the recipient of the Advent Calendar went to Sally and here’s her story:
“My best Christmas present EVER was the year before last’s.
When I was 35 weeks pregnant, I had a scan to see if my baby had an enlarged stomach due to gestational diabeties. During the scan they found out that my son’s brain was abnormally formed and they told me he’d die at birth and offered me a termination; which we refused. Tom was born in autumn and I was hoping and praying he’d survive until Christmas, so he could come home from NICU and spend some special time with our family. Well, my son not only survived until Christmas- as I had hoped, but he’s doing amazingly well, he can crawl and pull himself up. The doctors have said that although his condition is potentially life threatening, he’s in no immediate danger. I feel so lucky and blessed. He’s definitely the best Christmas present ever for me and my family.”
Selfridges, who provided the giveaway were also very moved by Kellie’s story about her father and came up with an extra giveaway in the form of Lancome Christmas Crackers.
So thank you everyone who entered and thank you Selfridges.
