Even though my heart is still with Institut Esthederm sun care, I do love a bit of Lancaster – it has never had enough availability in the UK really and it is a fantastic range.

One of the must-haves is the Lancaster Tan Maximiser HERE; it was one of the first ever products to use before you go on holiday (and during, as after sun) so that you tan evenly and quickly and it really does work to maximise your tan. I used to use it by the bucket load. For me (but bear in mind that I have olive skin) I would say that after three to four days of sun using a tan maximiser it equates to about a week in tan look without using it, so if you’re short on time to grab a tan, I’d thoroughly recommend. They’ve added a firming element to the lotion which can’t hurt, and you need to use it at least two or three weeks before your holiday. Apart from the fact that you will tan more quickly without a doubt, it also means that your skin is well moisturised and in good nick before you have to take off those clothes and actually, actually reveal your body.

Obviously, using a tan maximiser doesn’t protect your skin from harmful rays – you absolutely should use a good SPF and plenty of it. I haven’t used the Lancaster Sun Beauty Satin Sheen Oil Fast Tan Optimizer, SPF30, HERE but am very tempted to go for it.. I haven’t used a tan oil for years.. they’re hard to find.
