Laboratorio Olfattivo Biancothe

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Based in Rome, Laboratorio Olfattivo focuses on home fragrance as well as personal fragrance. In fact, it’s one of the few niche fragrance producers to branch out extensively to hair mists, hand soaps, shower gels and body lotions – in other words, the affordable end of niche perfumery. Despite the fact I’ve just sprayed room spray all up my arm, I like it for that approachability and recognition that consumers can get just as much pleasure from a beautifully perfumed liquid soap as they can from the intense juice of an EDP.

Laboratorio Olfattivo Biancothe

What’s interesting about this brand is its extensive use of noses – some established, others new – to produce a library of fragrances that is eclectic and exciting. The founders, Daniela Coen and Roberto Drago are both noses in their own right.  When I look on-line to find out more, for UK consumers at least, this brand pops up at several stores but you need to delve into specific fragrance fan sites such as Fragrantica.com to realise just how revered it is.

Laboratorio Olfattivo Biancothe

Biancothe is predominantly a tea note room spray laced with bergamot – so if you want instant freshness to a space, you’ll have it straight away. However, rose, apple and lily of the valley give it both softness and brightness that’s very pleasing to encounter in any room. I feel that room sprays have fallen out of favour of late – I don’t see nearly as many of them as I did, say ten years ago – and I think that’s because fragranced candles have taken its place. But, if ever there was an argument for their return, it’s Laboratorio Olfattivo. Orange blossom laced Petale di Tiare sounds too lovely for words, as does pineapple, pomegranate and lychee in Melomertillo with an undernote of violet sugar. Distribution of this brand is a little bit scattered but there is a lot to be discovered. The best selection for bath and body (and some diffusers) is Wolf & Badger HERE or you could try ordering directly from Italy. I think distribution will greatly improve as time goes on. Non-affiliate link is HERE. Alternatively, Flannels.com has some stock.
