I came across a wonderful exhibition by photographer Ed Zollo that’s all about celebrating older women. A series of ten women, aged between 67 and 79, aren’t airbrushed or modified to erase all signs of age. Ed’s remit was to focus on the woman, not the age, so with a steely urban backdrop, only a white sheet is used for clothing. The vibrancy that eminates is an absolute joy.

Each photograph is accompanied by a statement from the subjects which brings them to life even more. Margaret (67) says: ‘Do not accept society’s evaluation! Be proud of who you are, expect to be noticed and look for attention. We deserve it and no matter who we are, we have contributed and should not be ignored or set aside.’ And, those are words to live by! I loved browsing the pictures and reading more about the women – it’s just a very pleasurable ten minutes or so and something that the beauty industry could take a tip or two from. You can find Ed’s work HERE.
