Jurlique Calendula Oil Review

[unpaid/sample] There’s a lot to be said for keeping things simple when it comes to skin care. The beauty market is so noisy and so busy that it’s hard to make choices – it seems there are so many areas to be improved 😉. Sensitive skin is something I’m often asked about – there was a study a few years back that asked a certain number of women whether they had sensitive skin and most of them said yes. That doesn’t mean that they did have defined sensitive skin, it meant that they thought they did. But for truly sensitive skin – red, irritated, fragile, stinging, burning or itching and tingling – there really isn’t a great deal of product choice that’s not edging to the medical side of things.

I’m really impressed with Jurlique’s newest oil, Calendula, that’s formulated for the most sensitive skin types – even eczema prone – and feels both luxurious and nourishing. It’s got a kind of sweet, earthy smell from the natural ingredients which include calendula and Manuka leaf to calm and soothe. My eyes light up when I see meadowfoam seed oil on any ingredient list – it’s one of my favourites for hydration and plumping – so along with sunflower seed oil, vitamin E and lavender, rose, marshmallow and skin barrier saviour, Chia seeds, Jurlique Calendula Oil is shaping up to be a very beautiful oil for sensitive types. Trust me, this is a very pared back ingredient list with no pointless fillers for the INCI – all that’s needed is there.

I like the lightness of the texture, the fact that it immediately felt right at home on my skin and the softening effects that left me stroking my own cheeks appreciatively. My quibble is the price – it’s £65 – and I so wish it was more affordable. That said, a little goes a long way – it’s recommended to add two to three drops to your hands and massage around: please don’t do this unless you want the palms of your hands to benefit from the oil because it’s rather a generous dropper and you don’t need nearly that much. Drizzle a drop onto your fingertips, pat over your face and take it from there, using your palms once the product is on your skin rather than before. The bottle will last much longer that way – you can always add more if needed but you can’t easily take any away once its on your face. You can find Jurlique Calendula Oil HERE and I have a 20% discount for the remainder of the month (October 2024) using code JURTREAT24.
