Launching tomorrow at Selfridges is the new fragrance from Juliette Has A Gun, Anyway (sneaky news – lots of samples available so drop by and pick one up). When it comes to current fragrances, the word is BIG, and for those who don’t want their fragrance to enter a room before they do, Anyway will probably fit the bill.

It’s an antidote to all the loud fragrances out there – we probably have the introduction of Oud as a trend note to thank for this noise  – Anyway, comparatively, is quiet. It’s the kind of perfume that you keep to yourself and don’t unwittingly launch at passers-by or co-workers. I find it a very clean smell – although it has notes of musks, woods and flower petals, it’s very fresh, very discreet and I keep going back to smell it on my arm, which says a lot. Plenty of fragrances I can’t wait to wash off, but Anyway settles beautifully onto the skin with notes of Neroli essence, green lime and jasmin absolute edited in such a way that it is a sensual whisper, rather than a shout.

Anyway creator, Romano Ricci (great grandson of Nina Ricci), has rather bravely gone against the tide in making a fragrance that stays your own secret – unless you get up-close and personal, which I think is kind of understated sexy.

If you’re passing Selfridges, drop by and snap up a sample… if you love it, Anyway costs£65.00.
