Joonbyrd Daydreamer Body Serum Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Of all the things I’ve been excited to try recently, Joonbyrd Body Serum ranks very highly. I’ve been so curious about the (self-funded so far) body collection from dermatologist, Dr Alexis Granite. The name comes from her Persian roots and once you know that Joon translates to soul or spirit and life, it becomes more meaningful. Always designed to be a combination of science and sentiment, the ingredients read like a Who’s Who of great skin, while the fragrances are, well, unexpectedly big.

Let’s start with what’s in the products – allantoin, amino acids, beta-carotene, ceramides and chia seed oil just to start us off. You can then variously add ashwagandha, Siberian ginseng, Songyi mushroom, oat kernel oil and barley. I mean, there is more but I’m giving a snapshot. The product that I’ve been trying recently is Daydreamer Body Serum. On the Joonbyrd website, it’s called a Firming Body Serum, but on the bottle, it’s just Serum. Nonetheless, it’s got 18 actives and botanicals (although biomimetic peptide-sapphire complex nearly sent me over the edge because the idea of deconstructing this is giving me hives) and is instantly lovely on the skin, transforming from serum to oil as you massage it around.

At £78, it’s very expensive – if you’re really aiming for all over deliciousness, you could use up a bottle every couple of weeks. That said, budgets vary and to be fair, you will probably be the silkiest you’ve ever been in your life because the serum certainly delivers on smoothing and hydrating – most of the products have a try-me size and in this case, it’s £18. I personally don’t think any cream or lotion can firm skin in a meaningful way, but I’ve been glad to be next level soft of skin. The fragrance is cashmere musk, caramel and jasmine, which is a lot at once. It’s funny because the bottle doesn’t give away the decadence of the perfume so it was a surprise. I would say that it’s not to my taste but at the same time, several friends (as well as my husband who is by now immune to the multitude of creams and potions, smells and colours that I’m variously sporting) have commented on it saying how lovely it is. You won’t need to add perfume, that’s for sure.

I don’t doubt for a second that the formulas are meticulous and skin nourishing – everything is clinically tested for dermatological compatibility (and you’d expect nothing less) – and despite not being my favourite kind of fragrance, it’s left me wanting to try more. I admire the fact that Joonbyrd has gone unashamed luxury from the get-go  – why not? There’s science, innovation, sentiment and individuality here and the thing I particularly like is that they don’t claim the over used and confusing ‘clean’ beauty angle because there is no real definition for that. All the products are independently tested for safety and toxicity and made with out sulfates, parabens phthalates or microplastics.

Joonbyrd, as a brand, feels like it’s been brewing forever in Dr Granite’s mind and she’s literally made her dreams come true. If I have anything to add, it’s that some editing and cohesion is needed – it feels a little bit disjointed – and the website needs a complete overhaul. But, it’s such a new brand – I feel certain all these things will come. SpaceNK did not snap the whole range up for no reason – just saying. You can find JoonByrd HERE.
