Jones Road The Lippie Stick Review

[purchase] Much as I love Bobbi Brown (the person) and respect what she’s done within the beauty industry, try as I might, I cannot get along with Jones Road, her new(ish) brand. I absolutely hated the Miracle Balms – didn’t like the finish, didn’t like the feel on my skin and just all in all didn’t ‘get’ it. I bought the Classics Kit back when the brand first began and liked everything in it at the time but the products didn’t exactly sing – put it this way, I haven’t rebought anything from it.

I’ve just purchased the Jones Road Lippie Stick in Miami Beach which I thought would be more of a pop of colour than it actually is. In fact, I’d say it looks somewhat different on the website to how it looks on me. It’s a bit of an apologetic apricot and I don’t even like the texture which feels waxy on the lips.

Tinted balms are my thing – I’ve got too many because I’m always lured in and my fingers press buy before I can even have a word with myself – but this is a colour I definitely didn’t need.

Here’s how it looks on the Jones Road website.

And here’s how it looks on me (zero make up other than mascara and the balm). It’s got no ‘pop’ – the very thing that Bobbi Brown is famous for. I wish I could find the Jones Road thing that’s perfect for me – and I’ve tried! – but this definitely isn’t it. If you want a protective and nourishing balm, it’s fine – no quibbles there – but you can get the same for half the price in better colours. Lanolips, Revolution Pout Balm or even Bourjois are all doing it better. Jones Road Miami Beach is £22 HERE.

Jones Road as a brand doesn’t speak to me at all either. Even if the products were raved about everywhere, something about the aesthetics of the brand is just ugly. And the mad name. It sounds like a brand of engine oil.

Haha – I hadn’t thought of it like that I must admit – I quite like the appearance of it because it’s nice and simple.

The only thing I’ve been tempted to to try from Jones Road is the under eye colour corrector. It’s a crayon type one. Emma x

      I haven’t used it so I can’t advise on this one 🙂

It feels abrasive. Maybe my product is faulty

It shouldn’t feel abrasive but it certainly doesn’t feel like the smooth glide I’m used to with modern balms.
