Jo Malone London x Little Greene

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Was there ever a more perfect collaboration than Jo Malone London and Little Greene, a family owned, environmentally responsible paint and wallpaper company with a special aesthetic. Combining fragrance and colour is an art in itself but it seems to me that it’s match made in heaven, project wise, for anyone with the sensory phenomena, synesthesia, where sensory crossovers such as smelling colours occur naturally. I believe that it’s quite common amongst fragrance noses who can take their perfume creations to the next level because of the additional senses they experience.

Of course, what binds Jo Malone London and Little Greene is the ‘Britishness’ – both originally and proudly home-grown brands, they share a love of creating emotion through the senses. This is a limited edition collection of five Jo Malone London candles, paired with the muted and elegant colour palette of Little Greene.

Little Greene paints are very much to my taste – I’ve been looking for the right shade of putty pink for literally years – I thought I might have found it from Coat but I now I have the Little Greene paint chart, I’m in a new level of colour appreciation.

I think these snapshots give you an idea of how each fragrance settles with the chosen colours – the first going left to right, is Pomegranate Noir paired with Spring Flower wallpaper and Masquerade paint. The second is Lavender & Moonflower paired with Bone China Blue paint and Ditsy Block Floral wallpaper. Next is Myrrh & Tonka Bean with Light Peachblossom paint and Massingberd Blossom (my favourite pairing) wallpaper. Lime Basil & Mandarin is represented in colour by Salix paint and Briar Rose wallpaper and lastly, English Pair & Freesia is combined with the neutral tone of White Deep and Great Ormond Street wallpaper.

I love the Jo Malone London classic candles reinvented with muted shades that don’t tax the eyes – that feeling of gentleness and calm is exactly what I seek in my own home. This feels like a very elegant collaboration where the two brands have worked together seamlessly and with feeling to create a subtle blending of mood and moment.

Lavender & Moonflower is a lesser known Jo Malone London scent – it’s a beautiful combination of soapy lavender, musk and night blooming moonflowers (you might know these flowers as Morning Glory) – something I have never smelled in reality I don’t think although I have an olfactory ping that I can’t quite place so maybe in the dim and distant past it’s something my dad grew in his garden. I think it’s a wonderful wedding gift for couples who already have absolutely everything – a scented memory and a treasure glass to keep forever.

I can’t not show you the stunning table-scape for the launch event at the Little Greene shop on The King’s Road in London. I had two of the tiny little raspberry topped cakes that you see in the bottom right and quite honestly, left to my own devices in the dark I’d have eaten the whole lot. As it was, other guests ruined that fantasy and the lights were on so there we are. All the cakes I didn’t eat 🙂 The collection ranges in price from £59 to £74 (for the Myrrh & Tonka) and is available now HERE.

I love the look of the Lime, Basil, Mandarin one, and use the same perfume and body scrub. I was saving up to buy the candle using my points which I collect from using the THG recycling scheme. THG have now changed the terms and conditions (but not updated their website to reflect this) of the scheme. You used to be able to save points. Now you get a £5 discount code. £25 spend to use it, one per transaction and no other discount codes can be used. Totally rubbish! Please do a post about this, Jane. The beauty industry is one of the biggest polluters and THG are jumping on this and trying to use recycling to make a profit. They improve their ESG score, and provide worse terms for consumers, who are hardly now incentivized to recycle, hard to recycle items ie download app, set up account, take photos, input info, wait 24 hours, log back in, create label, parcel items to criteria using your own packaging, go to the post office, log back in and select the code, all to save £5, when you could have saved more money anyway, just by using the discount code advertised on the THG website!

Thank you, I have always loved reading your blog 🙂

I definitely hear your frustration. That’s not on and I agree that often it’s just for show. I’m really sorry about the points scheme – a £5 discount isn’t the same thing at all especially if there is no notification.
