This is pretty exciting; another fabulous olfactory shake-up from Jo Malone with her new brand, Jo Loves. Jo has spent two years trying to perfect the Mango Nectar note and she’s freshened it to get rid of any of the sickliness you can often associate with mango scents.
Jo has put Mango three ways; Mango Nectar, A Shot of Oud Over Mango and A Shot Of Thai Lime Over Mango and each one, with a central theme, is very different. A Shot Of Oud Over Mango is mellow and smoky with a shot of Freesia and black pepper (and Oud, obviously), while the Thai Lime blend gives a citrussy burst that is both fruity and fresh with an addition of mint leaf for an extra green down note. Mango Nectar itself isn’t just a smack of Mango; it’s also got Bitter Orange, Pink Grapefruit and Musk to wrap you up in familiar notes that are actually quite hard to isolate in the nose.
I’m massively a Jo Loves fan: hers are the fragrances that really stir me and as I’ve said before, they are indelibly stamped with Jo Malone’s olfactory signature so each new scent is a bit like meeting an old friend who’s acquired an amazing lover! They’re the same, but startlingly different.
