I knew I’d adore this new creation from Jo Loves straight away – and sure enough, it is exactly the kind of fragrance that I love.
The notes that A Shot of Fresh Sweet Peas is made from might surprise you – Ylang Ylang, Rose Petals, Marigold; I know there is something strange about the Sweet Pea flower that makes extracting the exact scent very difficult (for example, I don’t think it is possible to buy Sweet Pea essential oil) but I can’t remember exactly what it is.
So, the combination of ylang, ylang, rose petals and marigold does make up a Sweet Pea in fragrance terms and with this blend you get a very green background for all the floral sweetness to sit on. I am slightly reminded of bluebell woods. It’s such a pretty fragrance; very feminine and uncomplicated but I think maybe also, compared to other contemporary fragrances, old fashioned. But then, that’s what great fragrance can do – capture a moment or a memory for you and that’s not dependent on trends – it either will resonate or it won’t.
I’m quite excited to discover on the Jo Loves site HERE that you can buy a ten-shot sample set (£38) of all the Jo Loves fragrances – it’s probably the very best way to understand the range before you splash out on the fragrance full sizes. Pomelo is still my favourite – I really don’t think I’m ever going to get over that one!
