What I like about the Isadora Christmas 2015 range, called The Golden Edition, is that it’s very much a pared back gold look. When it comes to gold, it’s easy to get carried away and end up looking more like a tree bauble than anything, but when you bring it down to nuances of gold, it’s a different thing altogether.
There’s an almost white-gold shimmer wash followed by uplit pearl and then deeper shades – the third along in the swatch looks like a claret shade in the pan but is more led by brown (as a lot of the so-called burgundys are at the moment). As you can see, there is a warm gold in there next to a matte black. I don’t know why I’m feeling for this more than other neutral palettes but it just seems a very elegant colour edit.
For nails, there are sparklers if you want them in gold and silver colour-ways with iridescent pops, but Dark Truffles (above) is a gorgeous, deep berry shade that you can top coat with any of the other sparkles.
There are four shades of lipstick – I have Heather and Zinfandel above, but it’s interesting that for their promotional pictures, Isadora has chosen to team their golden looks with pink lipstick (Flirty Fuchsia) and it does look fabulous. Maybe the key to not over-gilding is to avoid the gold-red or gold-rouge noir thing and do the unexpected with gold and pink.
Isadora Christmas 2015I’m completely fascinated by the Glitter Lash and Brow Gel Glitter that is Isadora’s only real forray into bauble territory. You can use it on lashes or brows.. but gold brows? Hmm.. not sure about that one at all!
I don’t have any launch date for this or prices, yet, but you should see it on FeelUnique in the next week or so.
