Ipsum The Best Nutrient-Rich Moisturising Cream

[unpaid/sample] There’s not really a short way to tell you about Ipsum’s new Best Skin Nutrient-Rich Moisturising Cream because what does it not have in it? I was a the launch event a few weeks ago, and Janet, co-founder of Ipsum, had brought some of the Australian native plants that are included in the formula to show us all, which appear amongst the ceramides and peptides and so much more! The most interesting ingredients are the Australian Kangaroo Paw Flower which apparently is a rich source of ferulic acid, in itself a potent antioxidant, but not just a pollution buster – also a collagen and elastin stimulator that locks in moisture.

It’s not the best picture and I wish I’d taken the time to pay more attention to the flowers! But, I appreciate knowing what the ingredients actually look like especially when they’re not particularly familiar. The Australian Lilly Pilly belongs to the myrtle family – you can eat the berries (I tried one and honestly it’s not very nice at all, even covered in chocolate!) – and is a good source of Vitamin C, which again has a role in collagen stimulation and is an anti-inflammatory. Squalane features, as does Australian Macadamia for it’s richness in omega 6 and 9. Add Sea Buckthorn, Jojoba, Mango Seed Butter, Radish Seed Extract and Aloe Vera and we are looking at quite the skin loving cocktail.

When you apply Ipsum Best Skin Nutrient-Rich Moisturising Cream, it feels like a non-sticky balm. I can best describe it as ‘holding’ the skin and after application, there’s no shine, so you can easily wear it under make up. It’s not weightless exactly but isn’t intrusive – I am guessing that while it’s doing all the things its doing, not a scrap of moisture is going to escape your face.

I haven’t long term tested this so it’s top line only but I love the way that Janet (above) doesn’t go anywhere near negative skin terms – there’s no chipping away at your confidence to sell a cream. The closest she comes to any reference to anti-ageing is skin-rejuvenating, which is exactly what this cream is likely to be in terms of replenishing and protecting. There is a fragrance – very light – of neroli and honeysuckle which I didn’t even notice as I applied. I’d recommend this for all skin types but especially dry skin prone to redness or those with longer term dryness that makes the complexion feel taut. It’s a considered purchase at £65 for 50g but it’s working ingredient rich with 83% organic content HERE.

And I’m giving a little shout out to the Ipsum Lip Oil – just one of the very nicest lip oils around to put paid quickly to dry lips, and the Hammam Soap is one of bath time’s greatest joys.  Above, a piece of Banksia. What an education in Australian botanicals!
