[unpaid/sample/affililate/ad] I have a lot of catching up to do – feeling so much better and very much ready to start review writing. I’ll kick off this week with Ilia’s Soft Focus Blurring Blush which is a little bit of an upgrade from your usual powder blush. I’m not generally a powder blush fan (Swede Beauty excepted) but Ilia has put some considerable effort into their Blurring Blushes by creating a perfected ratio of light filtering, meaning that despite them being powder, you’ll get a degree of radiance from them.
They’re not to be compared to crème blush which can take a whole different level of light diffusers and radiance makers in the formulation but I was impressed when I tried them out at their ability not to deaden the skin. Personally, I want all the lightfulness I can get on my complexion and I prefer a moisturized, dewy finish which is why I’ll always reach for crème first.
The Soft Focus Blurring Blushes are very well pigmented. Unless you like your blush strong – and if you do, go you – a whisper of your brush over the blush will be absolutely plenty. I can see that Ilia has catered to all tones – deeper tones can take a higher blush pigment so well and that’s accounted for, so the lighter the tone, the less you will need. I have two shades here – Flutter, which is my peachy comfort zone and Wonder which is a raspberry tone or two out of it.
[wearing Flutter above] I should add that Ilia includes skin care ingredients in their make up – Edelweiss, kelp and squalane stop this blush from being dry and in fact, it’s weightless on the skin. If I’m honest, I’m not sure that I see any soft focus going on – cheeks don’t feel like a big enough area to have an impact but you can work it (I can’t stress enough how little you need) over your skin to become the seamless flush we always hear about. I would personally suggest that you don’t use a huge, fluffy brush for this because working the product to its best diffusion takes something a little more sturdy.
Bottom is Flutter, top is Wonder. The blushes are quite pricy at £32 but there’s enough here to last a life-time! You can find the whole collection of eight shades HERE.
