[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] These lip crayons have only just launched and yet some shades have sold out already. I love Ilia’s approach to beauty – there’s always something a little bit more than just a colour. In this instance, with a claim of more hydrated lips within a week, the crayons contain some beautiful ingredients to make that more likely to happen. Sea succulents, hyaluronic acid, seaweed extract and rosehip oil appear on the ingredient list which gives new hope to people like me who find this type of product drying.
The idea of the Ilia Lip Sketch Hydrating Crayon is to draw around your lips with the tip of the crayon and then colour in the rest for a precision look. It definitely works for a more clean and tidy lip line and when you buy the crayon, it comes with a perfect fit sharpener so you can always keep the point. I’d recommend keeping these in the fridge over the summer – you can’t sharpen mush and I’ve made the mistake of leaving this type of product in the sun before.
As you can see, many of the colours look quite similar but while they’re variations on a theme, other than the gorgeous, fully orange Piazza, they each have an individual personality.
In the swatch, from bottom to top, are: Piazza, Genre, Blue Note, Banquette, Kiln and Rhyme. The texture is incredibly soft and the finish is matte – that’s not my personal favourite finish but adding a tiny dot of balm (not gloss), while messing with the long ware action, will lift it a little.
The claims of bleed-resistance seem true to me – Piazza was pretty much perfect the entire day and while I can’t say I put Ilia Lip Sketch Hydrating Crayon to the 12 hour test, the last felt reliable. The crayons are £26 each HERE. At the time of writing, all are in stock, bar Piazza, which you can find (at the time of writing) HERE.
