I’m going to admit that I find the trappings of Christmas fun for about five minutes. From then on, I literally cannot wait to get the cards, in particular, down and start seeing some empty spaces again! If it was up to me, the tree would be down on boxing day! I’ve recently had our bedroom completely blitzed – it’s the room I’ve been waiting all my life for; a neutral, grey and white space with very little clutter that I’m determined to keep that way. It’s just some undemanding space that I’m very, very grateful to have.
So, I understand and appreciate the simplicity of IIUVO candles – it might be no surprise to discover that the range is created by Leo Gibbon, formerly of Dover Street Market, and Tomi Ahmed of Comme des Garcons. To do less is sometimes more difficult than to do more, especially when it comes to home fragrancing. In terms of scent, I have Woodgrain – it’s a clean, slightly sweet and almost masculine smell with cardamom, patchouli and amber. It’s inspired by the interior of a vintage cadillac (I wish I had a story to relay about an exciting experience in the back of a caddy, but I don’t!) and is just quietly sublime.
IIUVO Candles are at the very beginning of their journey; I think you’ll see a great deal more from them next year, but for now there are just three – Woodgrain, Ajon (an orange blossom/tiare blend) and Emmie (myrrh, galbanum and cedar) and they’re £50 each HERE.
