[unpaid/sample] Ooh. Now, this is quite something – you know when you suddenly have a moment with the power of make up? I had that very moment with the Hildun Beauty x Hannah Martin collaboration collection which turned my eyes from stark to smouldering in a couple of strokes of a brush. A Mediterranean type smoulder is very much Hannah’s USP – that eyes reflecting the water kind of a look which very few of us are naturally blessed with. So, I’m starting with the finished result.
My photography doesn’t do the level of shimmer justice – but trust me, sunshine on iridescent water.
The two eye shimmers are Champagne Truffle and Sugared Almond – I’m wearing Sugared Almond. There’s also a Sheer Glow Face Gel in the picture that’s new to me – you add a few drops into your foundation or moisturiser to get a lumimous finish.
It couldn’t be simpler to use. I added the amount you see into a moisturiser and then applied with a brush. The effect was, I’d say, lightly glowy, and in direct sun light there is some twinkle which isn’t my personal preference. It’s the kind of product that makes your skin look awesome in a candle lit room but it’s not for me for anything other than that.
Spiced Pecan is a metallic brown/bronze – absolutely delicious. It goes softly and effectively on the water line as well as being a dream on upper and lower lids. I would wear it on its own, no problem at all. Sugared Almond is the darker shade, Champagne Truffle is the lighter shade.
In terms of application, I tried the Shimmer Shadows with a finger tip but that’s not really precise enough so I swapped to a flat brush. Shimmers tend to drop onto the face below the lid but that didn’t happen – I’d advise not applying too much at once – go once and then go again, following with a do-around with Spiced Pecan on lids, under lower lashes and then inner rims. It’s all in the detail and the saturation effect is everything for this smoky look. Everything can be bought individually although there is a bundle including two kohl liners, the two Shimmer Shadows and the Sheer Glow Face Bronzer. If you just want individual shades, I’d recommend Spiced Pecan, £18 (it’s been sold out for ages and only just back) HERE and Sugared Almond, £20 HERE.
